PORTRAIT STENCIL SET -MUND-
Closed mouth

Step 01:

Start with a contour drawing on your airbrush board.

Step 02:

Look for an optimum curve and position the portrait template to spray on the first shading with transparent black.

Step 03:

Change to the next curve to further develop the lip contour.

Step 04:

You can see here how the portrait template optimally rests on the lower lip edge to prevent overspray and to contour the shape.

Step 05:

Working freehand, the lips can now be lent greater volume through the correct positioning of light and shade. You should also carefully spray in shading below the lips.

Step 06:

The portrait templates are also useful when it comes to indicating the creases of the mouth.

Step 07:

The intermediate results are apparent here. Light structures are developed on the upper lip with the airbrush. The eraser pencil creates further highlights. Light and shadow around the mouth are also created freehand in thin layers to give greater shape to the mouth.

Step 08:

Additional skin structures created with the eraser pencil and little light details with the electric eraser or scalpel make the overall effect even more realistic.

  Smiling mouth

Step 01:

Start with a preliminary drawing to create this smiling mouth.

Step 02:

Look for a suitable curve on the portrait template and spray in the first contour between the lips and mouth cavity.

Step 03:

Then move further with the template and shape another lower lip area.

Step 04:

Use a somewhat straight section of the portrait template to indicate a tooth lying in the shadowy area at the rear.

Step 05:

Here's the intermediate result after a few minutes.

Step 06:

Now shape the area from the gums by covering the upper lip area piece by piece with the portrait template.

Step 07:

Then use another curve to shape each tooth individually, tooth for tooth. Always spray only a little paint in short runs on the template edge.

Step 08:

The portrait template even offers a solution for creating difficult shapes!

Step 09:

Spray the lower gum as well with the aid of the template.

Step 10:

The intermediate results are apparent here.

Step 11:

It is now time to continue with the coloured area around the mouth, or the coloured connection between the mouth and facial surface. The upper lip also receives additional colour shading and structure.

Step 12:

Glossy highlights and structure are created on the teeth with an electric eraser.

Step 13:

The shape of the lower lip is now developed.

Step 14:

The highlights of the lips were created with the eraser pencil and electric eraser. The outer area of the mouth is developed further with light transparent layers.

Step 15:

Further details such as laughter lines on the face and nostrils can also be traced with the portrait template and then optimised freehand with the airbrush and eraser pencil.

Step 16:

Here is the finished motif.
